[Introduction]

Intro:

Ok, so I'd never even heard about the activity of "Urban Exploration" (although I loosely participated in it) until one day when a friend pointed me to the famed [ Action Squad] site.  After reading almost all of Max Action's explorations and follies, one of the things that really stuck out to me were the U of M steam tunnel pages - I had never known there were miles of tunnels beneath the ground just waiting for exploration!  Exploring the steam tunnels became my goal - and after some hard work and help from some friends I succeeded!
I made this website to show people at home places they never guessed existed right below their feet.  As soon as I explore a place I post the adventure up here. [Edit: In actuality, I tend to slack around for about 2 months before it actually gets posted :-P]

What we do:

We explore.  More specifically, we explore tunnels, caves, and abandoned buildings in urban settings.  Most people never think to open a manhole and look inside.  We not only open it and look inside, we bring flashlights and several people, crawl down into the hole, replace the cover, and have a look-see.  We don't break things, take things, spray-paint tags on the walls, or cause any trouble.

Why we do it:

Well, basically either you like it or you don't.  Those of us who like it tend to agree that the fun lies in several things.  Half of the fun is in finding a way in.  Another exciting part of exploring is going places few have been before.  Also, once I've been in a place (the steam tunnels at the U for example), I now can see a more complete picture of the world around me.  In other words, my perspective of the U of M campus is no longer bounded by the ground-up.  I know there are tunnels below my feet and I know what they look like.  Also, many people can't appreciate the amazing amount of beautiful scenery to be had in an abandoned building.  And of course there is the natural fun to be had evading and circumventing security.

Well, that's it for the intro page...I think I'll add more sometime...until then check out the rest of the site!
