[September, 2003] - Building 1

Like most of the places I explore, I'd been eyeing this one for some
time before I actually got around to exploring it. I brought
Skivvy along with me one afternoon and access proved rather easy.
I wanted to explore it in the afternoon while it was still bright out
because flash photography would be very obvious at night through the
none-boarded up windows. Unfortunately, entering during the day
also meant we would be very susceptible to discovery by the multitudes
of people driving past the front. We somehow managed to scale the
9 foot fence and enter the building without alerting anyone. Don't
try this at home kids, we got lucky.
Here is a tour of the building from top to bottom to front offices:
Roof -

Elevator room -

(Wha? This elevator is supported by ropes? Scary.)
4th Floor -

(The door of the giant rope-supported death trap elevator)

(Not quite sure what the purpose of this is)

(Ooo, a bag of chemicals!!)

(Uh oh...better not let this stuff out)

(The sun is setting now. Which direction am I facing?)

(Skivvy peaks out from behind a door labeled
"Keep Door Closed At All Times")

(Lots-o-light bulbs)

(A locker room filled with many interesting artifacts)

(Frozen [me] sits down to read the 1993 paper)

(Sneaking a peak at building 2)
3rd & 2nd Floors -

(If anyone can tell me what some of these machines I have
pictures of here are used for I would be really grateful.)

(A workshop of sorts)

(Sign reads: "One set of head gaskets")

(Yes, abandoned bathroom pics are a necessity)

(Barrels 'o' fun...or pesticides...)
Ground Floor -

(An ancient balance accurate to .001 grams)

(Boxes of corks)

(Chemistry glassware)
Basement -

(Cluttered office - lots of interesting papers to look at)

(A flooded section of the basement. Having no boots,
we decided to leave this section unexplored)

(Wow! This is a lot of pesticides! I hope they aren't
dangerous...)

(Uh oh, MDSS says Health Hazard 3: Extreme Danger.
At least they have it all sealed up safe in those barrels.
Now I can rest easy :-) )

(oh...crap)
Yeah, so I'm going to die of pesticide poisoning now. Oh well.
At this point we climbed the stairs back up to the ground floor to check
out the offices area in the front of the building before we were to
leave. In one office we found a computer. I flipped the
power switch and it started up! (with the hard drive protesting loudly I
might add).

(Better update those virus files!)
I then naturally opened up Outlook Express to see what this guy's job
was. Nothing interesting until I go to the "Sent mail" folder and
find some rather interesting e-mails...

and a close up...

Woah woah! Not at work there buddy! That stuff is for
home! Never thought anyone would find out huh? Well, think
again chief!
--> Busted!
No scandalous e-mails, but there are a lot of groovy pesticide tanks
in...
